comptech kit is 5k if I remember correctly... borderline. Could go either way, but leaning towards np since the mods seem smart. Well, except the 2" drop is about 1-1 1/2 too much.

15k in mods = CRACK Pipe. Never never buy a car that's been modified like this and expect to have even an ounce of reliability. This is going to be the next guy's nightmare. Think of all the time and money this guy put into into his beloved baby, now think about how bad it must have fucked him over to convince him to sell it. By all means though if you want to constantly work on something and pour countless time, money, and energy into a ticking bomb, then have at it. It does look good though.

I would hoon if it was any other color. I personally cant do yellow. Otherwise I'd say thats a nice price. 100k miles of fun left in her with just scheduled maintenance!

That's not true at all. These sorts of mods on S2000's are so easy and done well.

AP1 supercharged? Make sure you look at it, but I am so happy with my AP1 and I can only assume the extra horsepower would make it more fun.

Have you ever owned an S2000, Have you ever owned any car that was modded by it's previous owner? It's not the ease of the mods, it's the extra stress on every component that comes with it and the fact that you can bet it's lived a hard hard life.

I own an AP1 right now, and fellow owners I know that have the mods on their car, if they're done right, they'll hold up under anything.

That's your issue, you love these and think I am knocking on them in general. They're great cars, I love them but honestly, you know how this thing has been driven, wouldn't you rather spend your hard earned 14k on one that is stock and at least has the possibility of not being hooned to within an inch of it's life?

I just haven't seen any case of the super charging go bad. But then again, I bought a beat on stock car, and it's still super solid. It all depends on the previous driver I guess

The supercharger won't go bad, it's designed to do the job it is doing. It's the internals of the engine that you need to worry about. If it has 50k or 80k supercharged miles, things are going to start going bad left and right. Which is most likely why he is selling it. It's not the cars fault or a general fault of Honda, that's just the way it is when you boost an engine by any means.

Yeah I guess you're right. Maybe most owners I know who have done Forced Indiction haven't driven it that much.

This idea that modded cars when sold all of a sudden become undriveable makes no sense to me...an S/C'd S2000 is not uncommon and pretty reliable.

Who cares...its an S2000...it will be here longer than cockroaches and twinkies.

This seems like an easy NP...Comptech stuff is top notch...and this car looks taken care of, and well-done. For 14k, I think its a great deal.

The simple fact is that I won't spend my money on something that has most likely lived a hard life. If you don't know the seller, a prudent buyer must assume that a modified car has lived a hard life and be prepared to pay the price when over stressed components fail. When you apply boost to an engine, the trade off is reduced life, it's a simple fact of the parts not being engineered from the beginning to handle the different stresses put on them by the boost. If you want to take the risk with your hard earned dollars, then by all means do so.

Well, I can tell you that Comptech probably knows more about modifying Hondas than almost any company in existence on this planet. While you are technically correct, the useful life of this engine probably went from about infinity to about a few hundred thousand miles. This S/C kit was R&D'd for a long time and much time was spent making sure that it would not put undue strain on the engine. Almost every engine ever made operates well within its tolerances, and the F20C is no ordinary engine. How the guy treated it is always a concern...but considering all of the mods are very high quality, and the car looks extremely clean everywhere, I have no doubt that he managed to take decent care of it. Of course, you can always tell by going to look at it.

It might be in immaculate shape with like you said, a great deal of life left in it, or it might be a complete problem child. You never know with these things. I'm older and wiser now so I try to minimize risk. I look at these NP/CP cars as daily drivers, not from the aspect of a sweet toy. If it was just going to be a toy then the engine and suspension mods would be great for that. As a DD fat sway bars, and lowering springs are an absolute nightmare. I've done it, I've owned them, it rattles your brain. When I was in my 20's this car would be highly attractive to me, now that I'm almost 40, not so much. Now this car in it's stock form, I'd have in a New York minute. I even like the yellow. I totally get where your coming from, It's just not for me.

Maybe thats the difference ;) I'm still in my 20s, so to me harshness and all that aren't such a big deal. Although it would be a tough DD here in the midwest too...the roads are just appalling every spring after all the plowing and salt and ice. I'd feel bad exposing it to such horrendous holes and cracks.

I live in the midwest as well. I had a neon as my fun car that I put fat sway bars, Eibach lowering springs, and Koni Struts on. It was fun fun fun, it would corner like it was on rails but even the slightest hole or bump in the road would jar the heck out of you. I loved it but the kids couldn't ride in it because it was so harsh. Tight highway on and off ramps were always my favorite. It started out stock as my DD when I first got married, then it went to my brother who used it to commute for 5 years, then he gave it back to me when he got a new civic. The suspension was totally shot when I got it back (248,000 miles) and it wasn't much more to go full performance on the suspension vs. stock replacement. My brother in law has it now hoping to one day weld in a roll cage and go short track racing with it.
